TEDDY BEARS PICNIC

A finish, hooray :-) This is one of the bears I had cut out for quite a few years, I finished him last Sunday, he is going to be a gift for my friend of over 30 years first grandchild, the baby is due in August, my friend is soooo excited as she only has one child, a son and he turned 37 in May, he married last October. I wasn't surprised at Christmas time when she told me she was going to be a Grandma in August this year, because of his age I thought they would start a family straight away. They are having a baby girl, I have decided to put either a pink or maroon ribbon around the bears neck. I have also crocheted a blanket for the baby and am going to make some bootees, bibs and matinee jackets.
Pop over to Melody's and see who else is coming to the picnic today.

TUESDAY TREASURES

This morning I would like to share with you this version of the Jessie May doll (button haired doll) I finished on Sunday. This one is a gift for a friend. I decided to do a version in brown with the rag hair, I am still deciding whether to make a little bear she can hold in her arms BUT I will have to draw one myself which I totally suck at, I cannot draw at all.... I cannot find my Jessie May pattern anywhere, I searched through all of my patterns on Saturday afternoon and again on Sunday morning. Just gone........

Here are another couple of girls, one with raggy hair and one with button hair, the button hair one has red and white buttons and I intend making her dress out of Christmas material, she will be mine to put out at Christmas time. I have already cut out a green dress for the raggy hair doll so I can use for a pattern which is lucky as I cannot find the original pattern...........

Here is another brown doll, this one will have button hair, the head is not attached, just sitting
on top of the body, I thought it would look better than taking the photo with her head in her lap.
This last brown doll will be for me....

Pop on over to Melody's to see you else is sharing treasures today.

BAKING IN MY KITCHEN

I did some more baking on Saturday and first I made my all time favourite pie, Lemon Meringue, it is so yummy :-) first the pie shell,

then the meringue, it is the best meringue I have made, thanks to tips on Masterchef :-) it has a gorgeous shine to it and just melts in your mouth............

then the lemon fillingVoila !! the finished pie, the lemon filling has the perfect tang to it, the pastry is just perfect (even if I say so myself), not too thick and when you slice through it with the spoon it breaks just right.
Secondly I made muffins again, the same recipe as last week, this time I put tinned apricots in as the fruit, they taste better than Muffin Break muffins.....................

Have a lovely Monday

BAKING IN MY KITCHEN

I have always had a passion for cooking and baking and watching Masterchef this season has given me some motivation on the weekends, last Sunday I made an Apple Tarte Tatin, so nice but a in my opinion a little too sweet (200 grams of caster sugar), next time I will use less sugar. Very easy to make and delicious with some whipped cream.

Next I made some muffins, Gary calls them Raspberry muffins, however I had some frozen mixed berry's in the freezer so I used those instead. It is the best muffin mixture I have ever tasted, absolutely amazing....... I will definately use this receipe a LOT and use different fillings,
such as Blueberry, Apricot, Apple and cinnamon, anything you like in a muffin really.

These delicious recipes come from "Gary Mehigan's "Comfort food" cook book that was part of a promotion through the Courier Mail recently, after purchasing the Courier Mail and taking the daily coupon to the Newsagent you were able to buy the books for $2, there were different ones each day for 10 days.
Last week a work friend gave me some home grown BIG lemons so this coming weekend I am going to make my all time favourite pie - Lemon Meringue Pie, yummo :-) IF I remember to get the camera out I will take take some photos.

On Monday I made my delicious Pumpkin and Leek soup (forgot to take photos), just gotta love soups in winter.....

FABRIC FABRIC FABRIC

I have been very lazy about my BLOGGING over the past few weeks, plus I have been sick the past 12 days, thankfully I am on the road to recovery and feeling much better.

I recently visited (on line) the Fat Quarter Shop to see what "specials" they had to offer and as usual I purchased, I am very happy with my shopping. My THREE parcels arrived yesterday. One of my purchases is this lovely Little Golden Book "The Shy Little Kitten" which I could not resist.

Of course the buying did not stop there, these are the other goodies that arrived in my parcels.

AND these
AND these
I have been wanting to try my hand at some YO-YOs, I know they can be made free hand however these were half the price of the ones I have seen in craft shops here so I shouted myself 2 different sizes.
