60TH BIRTHDAY QUILT

Last week I blogged a photo of hand sewing binding to a quilt, this is the completed quilt, the fabric was a jelly roll and I did a "jelly roll race" quilt and just to mix it up a bit I cut it down the middle and added the strip of blue, I'm very happy with finished project.

This is the back of the quilt, it is a 60th Birthday quilt for a dear friend of mine whom I've know for 34 years.  I posted it to her yesterday, she doesn't do computers or internet so I'm not worried she will see it here first.

WEEKEND SEWING

On the weekend I managed to sandwich together and quilt a quilt top which I had sewn up in May for my friend's 60th Birthday.  So it was time to cut the binding, I used my trust GO machine, all cut out in a few minutes, so happy.

Sunday afternoon I sat for a few hours to hand stitch the binding to the back of the quilt.  I haven't hand sewn binding on for a long time as when I make quilts for Aussie Heroes I do it all by machine as it is much quicker plus more sturdy.  I'd forgotten how long it takes, it took me another few hours last night to finish the binding plus hand sew the label onto the back of the quilt.

I will post a full size photo of the quilt when I can manage to take a photo on the weekend in the day light.

LAUNDRY BAGS

These were posted off today, I finished the cord casing last night on the last one and threaded the cord into the bags (after these photos were taken) and then packaged them up for posting today.

The request for the first two was for "blue", this was the only blue fabric I had in my stash so I hope they are well received.

The request for this one was for an Australian flag/anything Australian, this was my last fabric panel of an Australian flag, if anyone comes across these in their travels please let me know as I'd love some more. This is the front of the bag, this one should tick all the boxes of the request.

I used fabric for the back of this bag from a single bed Disney print quilt cover.  I fussy cut Tinkerbell for the back panel as I thought she looked so cute.
