SECRET SANTA CHRISTMAS SWAP 2015

This is my first year to join in ChookyBlue's SSCS and I am so glad I did. I collected my parcel from the Post Office Last Saturday and all of these little parcels were inside.  They look absolutely gorgeous with little drawings on the front and tied with red hearts.  WOW so spoilt, I didn't expect to receive so many little parcels.

I was told I could open the Christmas ornament which I did and it is now adorning my tree.

It is hand made and just gorgeous..  It has the yellow star at the top and then below is Joseph, Mary and baby Jesus.  It is one of the nicest tree ornaments I now have.

Ho, Ho, Ho, Merry Christmas my bloggy friends, have a safe and happy time with your family and friends.

MY VINTAGE KITCHEN BLOCKS and HUSSIF

It has been over 2 months since I last did a BLOG post, I just can't believe how the time has gotten away from me. So to start I have the last three blocks which are blocks 7,8, and 9 of My Vintage Kitchen by Jenny of ELEFANTZ I sew enjoyed embroidering these little stitcheries.

I also made a Hussif from one of Jenny's patterns. I completed this back in September. I fully intended on making a few more of these for Christmas gifts but I haven't done that either. I did intend to make more as I really enjoyed this project and it was easy to do.

Happy Monday everyone.

FAT QUATER BIRTHDAY CLUB 2015

This year I participated in the Fat Quarter Birthday Club run by Cheryll .  My Birthday was last Tuesday, 22 September and I hadn't BLOGGED about it last week as I was the recipient of a very nasty stomach bug which is going around everywhere in Brisbane apparently.  We were out at dinner for my Birthday when it struck me, I spent most of the night in the restaurants toilets..... It wasn't pleasant and it was by far the worst Birthday ever.  It hit me soooo bad, I lost 3.3kgs in 2 days and I only came back to work Monday of this week.

In this photo of my gifts I am still waiting to receive 4 Birthday gifts, 3 have now arrived and I am now waiting to receive one.  I will do a post with everyone's gifts when I receive the last parcel......

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME

WOW these come around too quickly, I cannot believe it has been 365 days since it was my Birthday in 2014.... The day didn't get off to a good start with a 2 hour 35 minute commute to work. A crash on the M1, it would have been longer only a big thank you to #bobcatsuperhero who stopped and unloaded his bobcat and cleared the trees and debris off the road to open up lanes.

Morning tea at work, so yummy this Strawberry Cheesecake from Costco with a lovely cappuccino..
We are staying in Brisbane tonight and going out to dinner with family and friends.

BABY BLANKET

Another crochet project completed..  I love this cluster pattern, this is the same pattern as the green, yellow and cream blanket I made recently.  I love this colour combo, it is a great size for a baby cot.  This is not made for anyone in particular, I just wanted to make it and was easy to do watching TV at night and filling in some time.

This is a close up photo of the pattern and the edging,.

NEW FABRICS

East Coast Fabrics at Burleigh is closing down and their entire store of fabrics is $2.95/metre.  My dear hubby took me there last Saturday morning and this is what I purchased.  There was so much to choose from and with no particular projects in mind I finally decided on these fabrics. There is 15 metres of fabric amongst this lot.

I just love this fabric.

These two are backing fabrics which are 250cm wide and they were $5.00/metre .

All their habby items for 1/2 price, I just stocked up on a couple of needles and this body tape.

ENTRELAC CROCHET

I've been interested in crocheting a baby blanket in this style for a while now and recently found out it's called "Entrelac" crochet, it is a French word meaning lattice. I found a tutorial on Utube and taught myself from watching the Utube videos...  I started with the two white squares in the middle and using alternate colours you just keep going round and round.... I have posted three photos of three different stages to see it growing.

This is how it looks so far , I have only used 1/2 ball of yarn of each colour so far.  It's not going to be big, for this first practice one I'm just going to use 1 ball of each colour and it should be big enough to use as a pram cover.  I'm really enjoying it and having fun...

NANA'S NEEDLE CASE

I started the embroidery for Nana's Needle Case a couple of years back, there is quite a bit of embroidery in this project as you will see in my photos.  I'm not making it for anyone in particular and not sure if I want it for myself yet or not so every now and again I would pick it up and do a little bit of embroidery.  I completed all the embroidery just recently and am very happy with all the finished pieces.  Now I need to make the needle case. I haven't put a time frame on this as I have a few other projects on the go at the moment, as we all do.......

BESPOKE BABY BLANKET

My knee operation went well and recovery is good.  I started back at work Monday of last week.  My knee is still a little sore at times but overall I am happy with it.  The surgeon says it takes six weeks for it to plateau out and the way it is at that point is the way it will be.

I managed to do quite a bit of embroidery during the day light hours and I worked on this at night, I managed to complete this in about 3-1/2 weeks which I was very chuffed about, the cluster rows take a while to do.  This is the finished baby blanket, it measures approx. 35ins x 52 ins plus the border.  I have taken the photo on the kitchen table at work..

Here is a photo of the clusters up close.  A very effective pattern and this is my first go at this pattern.  I am currently working on another one which has more colours and looks really cute.  Looking forward to showing that one to you soon.

MY VINTAGE KITCHEN CONTINUES

I am going in for day surgery tomorrow - I have a tear in my Medial Meniscus in my left knee.  I will be at home for nearly two weeks, going back to work on Monday 17 August.  I have an embroidery project I started recently, "Embroidery Work Roll" by Fairies in My Garden which I purchased maybe 4-5 years ago.  I will do this during the day light hours.

My crochet projects will keep me busy during the night time. I am working on two crochet projects at the moment, a lovely colourful baby blanket.  This set of colours completes the colour pattern.  I am really enjoying the pattern however it is quite time consuming with all of the clusters in the pattern.

Another baby blanket, I put a photo of the one above on FB and I have an order for this one, so it is a "commissioned bespoke piece" LOL...............

And finally to show you my latest completed stitcheries in "My Vintage Kitchen" by Jenny of ELEFANTZ, these are blocks, 4, 5 & 6.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY SWAP GIFTS

My gifts came from Kim, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, the gifts Kim made and sent to,  I was very spoilt.

I received this lovely fabric basket.

This is a wall hanging quilt, look at all of that wonderful embroidery.

This is also a wall quilt, bigger than the one above, as you can see by the floor tiles. I love all the embroidery, the colours - my favourite colour being red of course.

It didn't take me long to fill the fabric basket with fat quarters and other goodies.

My partner Pat doesn't have a BLOG, this is what I sent to her.

I made this snowman fabric heart Christmas tree ornament.

I made this table placemat with felt and embroidery.

I really enjoyed making and piecing together this placemat.

I also sent pat a few extra goodies, this great Christmas oven mit.

Some floating candles

And also a fat quarter.

Thank you Cheryll for organising this wonderful swap, it was so much fun.  Looking forward to
Christmas in July 2016.....
