60TH BIRTHDAY QUILT

I had a 10 day break from work by taking 3 annual leave days between the Easter break and ANZAC Day, it was wonderful to recharge the batteries.  Our daughter came to visit for a few days which was wonderful, I cleaned out my shoe cupboard which was a big mess, I threw out 3 pairs of shoes and have another 12 pairs in a bag ready to take to Vinnies, Life Line or the like.  My shoes now look so neat and tidy, though I wonder how long it will last ...

I also managed to do some sewing, turning this Robert Kaufman Jelly Roll,

Into this and then

into this quilt top,

My dear friend of over 30 years turns 60 at the end of May, I am making this quilt for her.  I crocheted her a quilt for her 50th Birthday and she loves it and now I am into quilting I decided a patchwork quilt for her 60th would be appropriate. Now to choose a quilt backing, sandwich it together and do the quilting.

ANZAC DAY 2014

ANZAC DAY 25th April, a day of rememberance, a day to reflect. Thank you to our men and women of the forces, without you we wouldn't be lucky enough to live in the best country in the world.
I made my traditional ANZAC day biscuits and enjoyed with a cup of tea.  Friday afternoon/evening I watched the traditional Footy match between Roosters and St. George and enjoyed a glass of Bundy Rum and Cola and celebrated that we are able to enjoy the simple things in life with a BIG thank you to our diggers.... we certainly are "The Lucky Country"

HIGH TEA ANYONE

Who said is has to be all work and no play, it can be both - it was for me today... I was lucky enough to be invited to the "Mad Hatter's Tea Party" at the Stamford Plaza today, the food was sensational, if you get the chance to treat yourself you'll be glad you did, it was awesome. There were a few tables of Mum's with their young daughter's and they looked so cute, the little girls were dressed so lovely in their party dresses.  I would have loved to have taken photos of them but in this day and age - I didn't want to appear creepy.....

                                                      The main table looked fabulous.

The high tea tables looked gorgeous too.

The china tea cups and saucers were so lovely.

This is the high tea triple tier of food.

We had two at our table, this is me looking between the two.

A delicate prawn cocktail with 2 prawns, I had three of these.........

A cute little bottle of Vodka and orange .

The sweetest little sandwiches with edible gold leaf on top.

The most glorious red velvet cupcake I have ever eaten.

AND a goodie box to take home.

Then back to work and reality.... Ahhh I will miss these days when I stop working.

Cheers
