TUESDAY TREASURES

Here I am once again joining in Melody's Tuesday Treasures, this week I am sharing something I have treasured since I was a small child, it is my Grandma's timber chest, my Pop gave it to her when they were courting back in 1931. I grew up in Rockhampton and my Dad's parents lived in Mt. Morgan, we visited every other Sunday and I have LOTS of great memories of those times. As a small child I always loved Grandma's chest and HOPED one day it would be mine. I told my Mother about this when I was pregnant with my youngest (Rebecca is now 18-1/2). Mum said to me your Grandmother is a very practical woman just say to her you have always loved it and hoped one day it would be yours, we were up in Rocky when I was pregnant with Rebecca and I phoned Grandma and had a talk and she said "you can have it now Kaylee, however there is one condition you have to take with with everything in it", WOW I was like a small child at Christmas, so excited with all the treasures I found inside, my Grandma did lots of crochet and Tatting (my Grandma taught my sister and I to crochet as small children), inside were some tatting shuttles, lots of wool which I used to make a patch crochet blanket, a leather pouch with some small hooks which I think were used to do up ladies lace shoes early last century and many other exciting treasures. I had hoped to keep the chest original however the material on the top was very worn and holes were starting to appear so I decided to put a new top on it and when I was removing the braid from the original top (I thought), we found another fabric so I guess Grandma had already put a new top on it. I keep the chest in my craft room and have it full of my craft goodies. In the second photo you can see the bear fur I have cut out ready to assemble.

MY NEW BAG

I am known by some of my friends to be a bag addict and a shoe addict :-) I think this addiction comes from my first job after leaving school at the age of 15, I worked in the office of a family owned shoe shop in Rockhampton and my addiction started, in those days everybody had a matching bag for their shoes. Mon-Fri I worked in the office and on Sat mornings I helped out selling shoes. My first take home weekly wage was $19.65/week, I was able to pay board, save some money and also manage to buy things, MOST things I bought was always on lay-by (everybody used lay-bys in those days), there were no credit cards available so when I purchased items for my "glory box", or clothes, or material to make clothes, or presents etc etc it all went on lay-bys, paying 50 cents a week. I managed to get by quite nicely. Something teenagers and young adults today couldn't possibly do because they have to have it "NOW". Anyway my addiction for shoes and bags continue and luckily today I earn quite a bit more and can afford to pay for my purchases on my credit card. My husband and I have ALWAYS worked to a budget and don't buy things "willy, nilly" . We have one rule though, I am paid monthly so each month the credit card is paid in full and we never pay any interest. I am really digressing from my post today :-) Voila - this is my new bag, it's a Louenhide bag, I now have 4 Louenhide bags, I have a red plait Poppet, a Black plait Poppet, my newest is a red plait Barrel and I also purchased a Raspberry Barrel along with this one last week. If you are interested, click on Louenhide, Products and then click on "Sale", this is the best of all - I LOVE the word "sale"
LOL :-)

Have a lovely Monday

TUESDAY TREASURES

It's time for Tuesday Treasures over at Melody's. Today I have chosen a pair of white doves which belonged to my Grandma, I have many things which belonged to my Grandparents which I will share in future posts on Tuesday Treasures. I love these little birds, they have gorgeous red eyes, I'm not sure what they are made of but it feels rough like sand, they were quite dusty when they were given to me and I had to clean them with a tooth brush as they are intricately carved. Is there anybody out there who has seen anything like this or knows what they are made out of ? I also have a pair of owls made of the same type of product.

TEDDY BEARS PICNIC

It's "Teddy Bears Picnic" over at Melody's, this little fellow is a "Harrod's" bear, his fur is so soft and I just love him. A friend bought him back from Harrod's London in 2006, she always spoils me. She is currently on holiday in England and Poland at the moment and returning in April.

MY WEEKEND AND TUESDAY'S TREASURES

I am posting Melody's Tuesday's Treasure today (Monday) as I won't be able to post tomorrow, this week my Tuesday Treasure is my gorgeous daughter Kate, she is one of the most beautiful people I know, she has the most gorgeous smile, she is very considerate of others and nothing like the stereotyped "Y" gen. Kate lives with her partner at Narangba in a house they built 12 moths ago and we don't get to see her as often as we'd like. Kate came down to visit us on the weekend which ended way too quickly :-( She is very busy working full-time and also putting herself through Uni part-time to become an accountant, this is her 5th year part-time.
I love you so much Kate.
My two beautiful girls, Kate and Rebecca.

My whole family, DON'T be fooled by the knights shirt that hubby is wearing, we are QUEENSLANDERS and we are BRONCOS supporters :-)

Hugs
Kaylee xx

NEW BEGINNINGS KITS

My "New Beginnings" kits are on their way at last, sorry they are a little late, last Thursday I went to Lincraft in my lunch break and purchased the embroidery threads which were my last items to include in the kits, Saturday I put them all together and packed them up to post off this morning. Sorry about the photo, I found it difficult to fit it all in as I made up 4 kits in total.

The kits all packed and on their way to Joy over at Joy Patch

TEDDY BEARS PICNIC

It's "Teddy Bears Picnic" time over at Melody's.
We are so looking forward to joining everyone out in the lovely sunshine today. This is the other bear I made, a few people have said he looks more like a dog :-) BUT he is a bear, I found him very easy to make as the only joint was his head, the legs are part of the body. I have made both of my bears by hand at work in my lunch hour breaks and stuffed them at night whilst watching TV.
