AUSSIE HERO QUILTS

Not much blogging for me lately, I have been busy making 2 Aussie Hero Quilts over the last month.
They are both for females, the request for the first one was for a "Dedication to Peter Pan, she lives by the Ocean and loves shades of blue and coral".  I'm happy that I've met the brief for this one and I hope the recipient loves her quilt, I also made her a laundry bag but forgot to take a photo, only realising this after I had packed it all up.
This is the front of the quilt.

This is the back of the quilt.  I also decided to add in a little bit of "Aussie" themed fabric.

The brief for this one was "Purple, Disney Movies and St. Kilda AFL Club", I am happy to have met the brief, making the front of the quilt with Purple and Disney Movies using the pillow case from the doona cover set I made the quilt at the top of this blog post.

I made the back of the quilt the St. Kilda part of the brief.  I hope the recipient will be happy with her duel quilt top.

Have a great weekend everyone.

BINDING

Cutting binding was one of my "pet hates",  not anymore , it's so quick and easy with my GO machine.  However I tend to cut way too much, I really enjoy using my GO machine, it's so quick and easy.  I needed binding for 2 Aussie Hero Quilts I am currently working on and I cut enough for 3-4 quilts in under 10 minutes.  So I no have spare which is always good to have on hand.

Have a great long weekend everyone.

AUSSIE HERO QUILTS

I was thrilled and honoured to have been involved in making a block for the Centenary ANZAC quilt for Aussie Hero Quilts and Laundry bags, last week in the mail I received this folder in the mail which contains photos of the quilt along with a Certificate of Appreciation and a letter from The Rear Admiral, Commander joint Task Force 633.  I was so chuffed and thrilled and teary, such a surprise.

I am currently working on two Aussie Hero Quilts, this is one of the quilts, firstly yesterday morning I sandwiched the quilt together.

Then in the afternoon I quilted this quilt, so now I only have to bind the quilt and sew the label on the back. Then to finish the second quilt I am working on.

MOTHER'S DAY 2015

I'm a little late with this post as Mother's Day was nearly two weeks ago..  My two gorgeous girls gave me these gorgeous gifts which I love.  I am saving the shoes for Kate's Wedding in April of 2016.  Candle holders with gorgeous scented candles, a pair of hoop earrings and a pampering voucher for a spa pedicure and a manicure.

Kate's dessert creation for mother's day lunch.

The girls cooked a lovely roast lamb lunch.

With Kate.

Me with my Mum who came down from Rocky for a few days incorporating Mother's day.

Me and my two gorgeous daughters having a "silly" photo.

I have really enjoyed doing this post and thinking about Mother's day spent with my Mum and daughters all over again, very special.

SECRET SANTA

I am once again joining Christmas in July organised by Cheryll. I have now finished the first of the 3 handmade items we have to make.  It's a table topper and made with combination of fabric and felt.  It didn't take too long to make and I'm happy with the finished project.

ANZAC DAY 2015

Celebrating ANZAC Day 2015 and 100 years landing at Gallipoli.

Friday buying my ANZAC badge from an Aussie Hero.

Saturday morning Rebecca and I attended the Dawn Service and re-enactment at Jack Evans Boat Harbour, Tweed Heads.  We arrived at 3.50am and there were already lots of people there, we found ourselves a nice little pozzie, it started just over an hour later, by that time there were thousands of people there. The re-enactment was done so well and it was soooo loud.

I also managed to make my traditional ANZAC biscuits.

I also managed to squeeze in sewing a quilt top for an active serving Aussie Hero. It was a very big day.
