BESPOKE BABY BLANKET

My knee operation went well and recovery is good.  I started back at work Monday of last week.  My knee is still a little sore at times but overall I am happy with it.  The surgeon says it takes six weeks for it to plateau out and the way it is at that point is the way it will be.

I managed to do quite a bit of embroidery during the day light hours and I worked on this at night, I managed to complete this in about 3-1/2 weeks which I was very chuffed about, the cluster rows take a while to do.  This is the finished baby blanket, it measures approx. 35ins x 52 ins plus the border.  I have taken the photo on the kitchen table at work..

Here is a photo of the clusters up close.  A very effective pattern and this is my first go at this pattern.  I am currently working on another one which has more colours and looks really cute.  Looking forward to showing that one to you soon.

MY VINTAGE KITCHEN CONTINUES

I am going in for day surgery tomorrow - I have a tear in my Medial Meniscus in my left knee.  I will be at home for nearly two weeks, going back to work on Monday 17 August.  I have an embroidery project I started recently, "Embroidery Work Roll" by Fairies in My Garden which I purchased maybe 4-5 years ago.  I will do this during the day light hours.

My crochet projects will keep me busy during the night time. I am working on two crochet projects at the moment, a lovely colourful baby blanket.  This set of colours completes the colour pattern.  I am really enjoying the pattern however it is quite time consuming with all of the clusters in the pattern.

Another baby blanket, I put a photo of the one above on FB and I have an order for this one, so it is a "commissioned bespoke piece" LOL...............

And finally to show you my latest completed stitcheries in "My Vintage Kitchen" by Jenny of ELEFANTZ, these are blocks, 4, 5 & 6.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY SWAP GIFTS

My gifts came from Kim, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, the gifts Kim made and sent to,  I was very spoilt.

I received this lovely fabric basket.

This is a wall hanging quilt, look at all of that wonderful embroidery.

This is also a wall quilt, bigger than the one above, as you can see by the floor tiles. I love all the embroidery, the colours - my favourite colour being red of course.

It didn't take me long to fill the fabric basket with fat quarters and other goodies.

My partner Pat doesn't have a BLOG, this is what I sent to her.

I made this snowman fabric heart Christmas tree ornament.

I made this table placemat with felt and embroidery.

I really enjoyed making and piecing together this placemat.

I also sent pat a few extra goodies, this great Christmas oven mit.

Some floating candles

And also a fat quarter.

Thank you Cheryll for organising this wonderful swap, it was so much fun.  Looking forward to
Christmas in July 2016.....

FABRIC, FABRIC AND MORE FABRIC

Only two more sleeps and I can open my Christmas in July pressies, so excited.

In the meantime I have some fabric photos to share, I purchased these fabrics last month from Spotlight, they had a HUGE fabric clearance and had most of their craft fabrics reduced and then take another 50% off the reduced price, I purchased all of these fabrics for $85.
These first two fabrics cost only $2/metre and they are great quality fabric, originally $19.99/metre, I purchased 5 metres of each.

All these remaining fabrics were $4 and $5/metre, I purchased a couple of metres of each.

I just love this bright happy fabric.

This is a backing fabric but sadly there was just under 2 metres left on the roll, it was $5/metre, so cheap, I would have loved to be able to have purchased several metres to use on the backs of the quilts I make for Aussie Hero Quilts.

This was a great find at $4/metre which I'll be using in a stitchery project I am currently doing.

Are you participating in the Christmas in July swap ? Oh, did I mention only two sleeps till opening the pressies, WOOHOO !!!

STATE OF ORIGIN 2015 SERIES

I went to bed last night with a smile on my face and I woke up this morning the same way.  I am one very happy smiling QUEENSLANDER and MAROONS supporter today.  Our boys played absolutely brilliantly, so proud of them.  Full time score 52-6 says it all.  9 series wins in 10 years, yes they are "SIMPLY THE BEST"...........
