BABY CROCHET

It's been many many years since I have crocheted with 3 ply baby wool and a no. 3mm hook.  Kate's best friend is pregnant and she asked Kate what I mind making her some baby bootee's as neither her Mum or Grandma crochet or knit..... This is a quick and easy project for me, I made one pair during my commute to and from work yesterday.  This morning I made one for another pair and hopefully with finish the other this afternoon going home.  I will just need to buy some nice pink ribbon to thread through them.  Her Mother is giving her a baby shower next Saturday so I will be including these in the bundle of goodies for her. I have done two different sizes, I hope she will like them.

AUSTRALIA DAY 2015

HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY 2015 everyone,  wherever you are and whatever you are doing have a wonderful day celebrating what being Australian means to you.  We are very lucky to live in such a special country and we must also say thank you to our armed forces over the last couple of hundred years which of course has made it possible for us to live happy and free.  Also thank you to our present and future armed forces as they continue to do so.

KOALA MITTENS

I made 5 sets of Koala mittens for the Koala's in the fires in South Australia. The photo has uploaded upside down.....

I also wanted to share my flowering Gerbera.  Just after Christmas we went to our local Bunnings and I bought 2 Poinsettia's which had been reduced to $2.01, I wanted to buy them before Christmas for $10.97 and my husband talked me out of it, luckily....... I also found some Gerbera's marked down to $2.01, I love Gerbera's, I bought three of them and now one is flowering, red is my favourite colour - what a bargain, I'm not sure of the colours of the other two, will have to wait for them to flower.

Have a great long weekend everyone.

Do you buy this magazine ? September 2014 Jan-Maree of Aussie Hero Quilts and Laundry bags  sent all of us that sew for them an email saying the mag was going to do a large article on Aussie Heroe's in their January issue, I sent in my story and photo however in November they sent me an email saying mine wouldn't be included as the photo image wasn't large enough but they would send me a complimentary mag when it came out.  I received the mag on Monday afternoon and flipped through it quickly and didn't notice, then yesterday afternoon at work I was reading through it again - I was so surprised and excited when I flipped a page and saw my name and my quilt - LOL.... there are several other quilts and laundry bags made by other ladies in the mag as well.. I made this quilt in December 2013/January 2014.

I was super excited and put it on FB and Instagram yesterday.....

HOLIDAY SNAPS

I have several holiday photos I'd like to share.

Mum and I dressed to go to the Casino..

Having a coffee at Maccas before dropping Mum at the airport after her Christmas visit.

A friend and I went to see the Black Sorrows at Twin Towns over the Christmas break.

I didn't realize Joe Camilleri played the Sax, it was a great concert.

Stephen and I went to see "Night at the Museum, Secret Tomb" Monday of last week (5 January 2015), we both thoroughly enjoyed the movie, I recommend it.....

Have a great weekend everyone.

HOLIDAY SEWING BOCKS

I was really happy with the blocks I managed to complete over my Christmas/New Year holidays.
I have joined in with Jacquelynne Steves to make her "Sew Sweet Simplicity" free BOM.. The BOM started at the end of October, all I had managed to do was to embroider blocks 1 and 2 before the holidays and had managed to cut out the fabric for block one.  I am really enjoying making these blocks.  As you can see I decided to make my blocks "red work" and am really happy with end result.

I also made 2 hash tag blocks - this amazing guy is putting together a quilt for each of the families of the victims in the Sydney Martin Place tragedy before Christmas.  They were quite fun to make, although a little fiddly.  He has now received 1,869 out of the 2,016 he is needing to make the quilts.

And finally the last block I made is for Aussie Heroes, a Poppy Block to be made in an ANZAC Commemorative Quilt, so looking forward to seeing the end result of this quilt...  There are lots of participants in this quilt, we were all sent the green fabric to use and then we used our own red and black to assemble the block...
