TEDDY BEARS PICNIC

An old ex-friend of mine made bears years ago and I decided one day I would like to try my hand at bear making so I went and purchased many pieces of bear fur, eyes, all the things I needed to start making my own bears. She instructed me on how to cut out the fur and gave me tips on how to stuff the bears, everything else I read in a book. This is the first bear I made about 5 years ago, sorry I don't remember his name. He isn't perfect but I was happy with my first attempt. I have only made 1 other since which I will save for next Thursday. I have had
4 bears cut out for 5 years, my goal this year is to make at least one of those.................. I hope I can remember what to do, back to the books.........

Thankyou Melody for the invite to today's Teddy Bears picnic.

NEW BEGINNINGS

I have been stitching for weeks to make the four "New Beginnings" kits, last weekend I finished the machine sewing to complete the kits below. This coming weekend I will add some fat 1/4's, needles, pins, a tape measure, some buttons, embroidery thread, braid and whatever else I can find in my stash to add to the kits.

GIFT FOR A FRIEND

I work for a Japanese company in Brisbane CBD and we have staff coming out from Tokyo office to visit on business often so I have many friends working in Japan, Ayako works in our power department and comes to Australia several times a year and each time she asks would I like anything from Duty Free and I ask her to either bring me some Jack Daniels Bourbon or some Bundy Rum, I give her the money however she is so lovely to do this for me, it is so much cheaper than buying here. Early December 2010 I made Ayako a lovely red scarf for those cold winters in Tokyo to give her when she comes for her next visit, Ayako is coming to Brisbane tomorrow and this is the scarf I have made for her.

CYCLONE YASI

Poor Queensland, my beloved state has seen LOTS of destruction this year and the year is very new. I may now live in NSW (Tweed Heads), as the crow flies I am only a couple of kms from the Coolangatta airport. I was born and raised and lived in Rockhampton for the first 20 years of my life and then moved to Brisbane where we lived for 30 years - I WILL ALWAYS be a QUEENSLANDER (no matter of the address) and wear my MAROON jersey with pride every State of Origin and other times as well - he he he :-)
I was so pleased to hear on the news this morning that the destruction wasn't as bad as they predicted and from what we are hearing everyone is alive and well. Thankyou GOD :-) I also just read some wonderful news on the "Gum Tree Designers" BLOG that Jenny and her family are safe.
I have commited to make 4 "NEW BEGINNINGS" kits. I have now completed all of the embroidery and will start this weekend sewing together the needle keeps, pin cushions and scissor keeps. I work full time in Brisbane CBD and travel each day with my husband (the driver) from Tweeds Heads to work. I like to utilise my time in the afternoons with stitchery etc so I have managed to complete my stitching for these kits this week which I am very happy about. I went to Lincraft in my lunch break today and purchased some fabrics to start sewing this weekend.
